Vantage UK: entertainment website design for a shared-reality venue brand

Vantage UK is the British edition of our fictional shared-reality dome venue, with sites in London, Manchester, Bristol and Edinburgh. It shares every template with the US edition, but reads as a British operator: prices in pounds, times on the 24-hour clock, a Shoreditch flagship and a Leith launch, UK GDPR consent and a palette drawn from soot, stone and ember. The dome is the same 87 feet across; the website speaks to a British audience.

Project facts

  • Client: Vantage Entertainment Ltd, registered in England & Wales (fictional)
  • Sector: Location-based entertainment, sport and live events
  • Markets: London (Shoreditch), Manchester (Trafford Park), Bristol and Edinburgh (Leith)
  • Services: Market localisation · Copywriting · Brand adaptation · Entertainment venue website design · Accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA) · SEO foundations
  • Templates: 7 page templates shared with every Vantage edition
  • Stack: Hand-built HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript; one strings file and one theme file per market

The brief

A British venue site that never reads as American

The risk for a UK edition is inheriting the US one: dollars, ZIP codes, a Chicago flagship and a freeway. Vantage UK keeps the cinematic structure but replaces every place, price, law and habit with a British one. The flagship moves to Shoreditch, the first permanent dome to Trafford Park, the launch city to Leith. Prices are in pounds with VAT included, times run on the 24-hour clock, and the legal copy follows UK GDPR and the Equality Act 2010 rather than the ADA. The tone is drier: understated confidence rather than hype.

Brand adaptation

The same Vantage, with a local accent

The palette is quieter than the US edition: soot ink (#0F1A15) carries the interface, cream (#F6F3EE) does the reading, and a muted ember (#ba8288) marks emphasis. Aurora green (#4c7161) appears on dark panels and over photography, so every pairing passes WCAG AA. Newsreader gives headlines a literary, editorial tone; Instrument Sans keeps forms and navigation plain. The wordmark keeps the concentric arcs and the Entertainment descriptor.

Homepage and key journeys

The hero opens on a crowd under the dome with Be there. Without the plane ticket. Proof points are restated for the UK (three cities open, one breaking ground, 40+ shows a week), and the city cards cover London, Manchester, Bristol and Edinburgh. The most distinctive flow is the event rail: a drag-to-scroll carousel of this week's programme with date badges, 24-hour showtimes and prices from £15, feeding straight into the sticky showtime panel on the event page. The London venue page adds a Shoreditch info bar (address, hours, getting here, box office) and a chef-led kitchen feature.

Compliance, accessibility and trust

  • Privacy notice under the UK GDPR naming Vantage Entertainment Ltd as controller, with the route to the Information Commissioner's Office.
  • Accessibility statement covering step-free access, lifts to every level and companion seating, aligned with the Equality Act 2010 rather than the ADA.
  • Footer with a UK company line: registered in England & Wales, company number and VAT number (demo), plus Privacy notice, Cookie policy, Terms and Accessibility statement.
  • Cookie consent is opt-in, with Reject all as prominent as Accept all.
  • Passes automated WCAG 2.2 AA checks on every page at 360, 390, 768 and 1440 px: no contrast failures, no unreachable controls, no horizontal scrolling.
  • A language switcher built from hreflang sits in the header on desktop and in the footer on phones.

One system, twelve markets

Every visible string lives in one file per market, and every colour and typeface in one theme file. This edition needed no new templates or components: a strings file, a theme, regional photography and local legal content made it a different brand experience. For an entertainment venue group with international plans, a new market becomes a content project rather than a rebuild.

Deliverables

  • Market profile: language, formats, legal and seasonality
  • Full localised copy across 7 templates, header, footer and forms
  • Brand adaptation: palette, type pairing and logo descriptor
  • 30 regional photographs (Pexels, credited in credits.json)
  • Local legal content
  • Accessibility pass (WCAG 2.2 AA, automated) and QA at four screen widths
  • Portfolio media: stills, full-page captures, scroll video, OG image, brand board

FAQ

How is a UK venue website different from a US one?

Prices are in pounds with VAT included, times use the 24-hour clock and dates read 29 October 2026. Postcodes replace ZIP codes, the legal copy follows UK GDPR and the Equality Act 2010, and the consent banner is opt-in with Reject all as prominent as Accept all.

Can one website design serve the UK and the US?

Yes. Vantage shares templates across editions; the UK inherits the structure from the US and overrides everything that is genuinely British: places, currency, clock, legal copy and palette.

Do you design for multi-city venue rollouts?

Yes. The locale-ready content layer means a new city or country reuses the same templates with tailored content and theme tweaks, no redesign.
