Kavanagh Doyle Ireland - law firm website design for a Dublin-led legal brand

Kavanagh Doyle Ireland is the Irish edition of our fictional law firm, a 230-solicitor practice with its founding office at 14 Merrion Square and further offices in Cork and Galway. It shares every template with the US edition, but reads as a Dublin firm: solicitors rather than attorneys, a Ltd entity, euro figures, Eircodes, Central Bank of Ireland and Revenue Commissioners references, and a palette of paper, ink and warm brass drawn from Irish materials.

Project facts

  • Services: Market localisation · Copywriting · Brand adaptation · Law firm website design · Accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA) · SEO foundations

  • Stack: Hand-built HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript; one strings file and one theme file per market

The brief

An Irish law firm site that never reads as American

The risk with an Irish edition is inheriting the US one: attorneys, LLP, the SEC, five US offices. Kavanagh Doyle Ireland keeps the editorial typography and the twelve-template system, but replaces every institution, place and job title with an Irish one. The firm becomes Kavanagh Doyle Solicitors Ltd, founded in Dublin in 1987, with 230 solicitors across Dublin, Cork and Galway; the M&A copy speaks in euro deals and examinership, and the cookie banner offers Reject all as prominently as Accept.

Brand adaptation

The same Kavanagh Doyle, with a local accent

Paper and ink carry the interface, with a brass accent (#875a28) for eyebrows, numbers and hovers and a deeper brass (#6c4c28) for emphasis. Literata gives headlines a bookish, editorial tone; Public Sans keeps navigation, forms and footer headings plain. The wordmark keeps the Solicitors descriptor and the tracked Kavanagh Doyle setting.

Homepage and key journeys

The hero opens on historic Dublin buildings with the firm name and a line about advising founders, boards and institutional investors. Proof points are restated for Ireland (230 solicitors, 3 Irish offices), followed by a practice-area preview grid, a dark quote band citing the General Counsel of an ISIF-backed technology company, a people preview and an insights preview. The most distinctive flow is the practice detail template: an accordion of focus areas, a contacts module with Dublin and Galway solicitors, and related insights, all revealing on scroll.

Compliance, accessibility and trust

  • Privacy notice and cookie policy under the GDPR, naming Kavanagh Doyle Solicitors Ltd as controller, with Reject all as prominent as Accept all in the consent bar.
  • Solicitor advertising statement in the footer, with the Irish company line and registered office at 14 Merrion Square, Dublin 2.
  • Contact form notice that submitting does not create a solicitor-client relationship and that confidential information should not be included.
  • Passes automated WCAG 2.2 AA checks on every page at 360, 390, 768 and 1440 px: no contrast failures, no unreachable controls, no horizontal scrolling.
  • A language switcher built from hreflang sits in the header on desktop and in the footer on phones.

One system, twelve markets

Every visible string lives in one file per market, and every colour and typeface in one theme file. This edition needed no new templates or components: a strings file, a theme, regional photography and local legal content made it a different brand experience. For a law firm with international plans, a new market becomes a content project rather than a rebuild.

Deliverables

  • Market profile: language, formats, legal and seasonality
  • Full localised copy across 12 templates, header, footer and forms
  • Brand adaptation: palette, type pairing and logo descriptor
  • 28 regional photographs (Pexels, credited in credits.json)
  • Local legal content
  • Accessibility pass (WCAG 2.2 AA, automated) and QA at four screen widths
  • Portfolio media: stills, full-page captures, scroll video, OG image, brand board

FAQ

How is an Irish law firm website different from a US one?

Attorneys become solicitors, the LLP becomes a Ltd, ZIP codes become Eircodes, dollar figures become euro deals, and legal copy follows the GDPR and Irish regulators rather than US ones.

Can one website design serve Ireland and the US?

Yes. Kavanagh Doyle shares twelve templates across its editions; Ireland inherits the component library and motion system and overrides only what is genuinely Irish.

Does the site meet accessibility standards?

Yes. The palette is AA-checked, the build is mobile-first down to 360px, and the consent bar offers Reject all as prominently as Accept all.
