Searching for a design agency in India turns up long lists and very little to compare them on. This guide gives you the three things that decide a shortlist: the kind of studio you're hiring, what each kind charges, and the questions that separate a good fit from a good pitch.
The three kinds of design agency in India
Most studios fall into one of three bands. The band tells you more about price and process than the logo on the homepage does.
- Boutique studios. Small teams, usually a founder who still designs. Fast to start, narrow in range.
- Mid-size UX agencies. Separate research, UI and project roles. A steadier fit for product teams with a roadmap.
- Premium product design firms. Senior teams used to enterprise buyers, long engagements and heavy process.
What design agencies in India charge
These are market figures, not Mellon quotes. They come from a UI/UX cost guide published by Aufait UX in June 2026, which is written by an agency, so read the ranges as a market band. None of the figures say whether GST is included.
Hourly rates by agency type
- Boutique studio: ₹1,500–₹3,000 an hour.
- Mid-size UX agency: ₹3,000–₹5,000 an hour.
- Premium product design firm: ₹5,000–₹8,000 an hour.
Typical project prices
- Landing page design: ₹40,000–₹1.5 lakh.
- UX audit: ₹80,000–₹2.5 lakh.
- Mobile app MVP: ₹3 lakh–₹10 lakh.
- E-commerce platform: ₹5 lakh–₹20 lakh.
- SaaS platform: ₹8 lakh–₹25 lakh.
- iOS and Android app: ₹6 lakh–₹30 lakh.
A price far below these bands usually means fewer screens, fewer revision rounds or a junior team. A price far above them should come with a reason you can name.
How to choose a design agency
Ask every studio on your shortlist the same five questions, and compare the answers side by side.
- Who does the work? Ask for the names and seniority of the designers on your project, not the people on the sales call.
- What do I get at handoff? Figma files, a component library, written specs, developer support. Name each one.
- How many revision rounds are included? One and two are both common. Find out what a third costs.
- Can I see work like mine? Look for your industry and your kind of product, not just attractive screens.
- What happens after launch? Some studios hand over and leave. Others stay on for fixes and iteration.
The shortlist
[Confirm: the agencies to list here, one short entry each — name, city, what they're known for, and a public source for every claim. Add no ranking or "best" wording unless the owner can back it with a named source. Decide whether Mellon appears on the list and how it's described.]
Match the studio to the project
- A landing page or a single flow: a boutique studio is usually enough and the quickest to start.
- A product with a roadmap: a mid-size UX agency, because research and design run in parallel.
- An enterprise platform: a premium firm, if your procurement team needs one.
