Harlow India — property website design for a Mumbai-led advisory

Harlow India is a property advisory across 18 Indian markets, from Bandra to Bengaluru. It speaks the language of Indian property: BHK configurations, carpet area, prices in lakh and crore, RERA-registered new launches, PIN codes and WhatsApp. It also follows the DPDP Act, with a named Grievance Officer.

Project facts

  • Client: Harlow Realty Pvt Ltd (fictional)
  • Sector: Residential property advisory
  • Markets: Mumbai plus 17 markets across 14 states and union territories
  • Services: Market localisation · Copywriting · Brand adaptation · Real estate website design · Accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA) · SEO foundations
  • Templates: 9 page templates shared with every Harlow edition
  • Stack: Hand-built HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript; one strings file and one theme file per market

The brief

Built for how India buys homes

Indian buyers compare BHK, carpet area and price per square foot; they shortlist by locality and project, and they expect to reach an adviser on WhatsApp. The edition rewrites listings, guides and forms around those habits. It adds an equal-treatment commitment that addresses real exclusions in Indian housing (religion, caste, food preference) and a DPDP-compliant privacy policy.

Brand adaptation

The same Harlow, with a local accent

Indigo carries the interface and marigold brings festive warmth to italics, with a brighter marigold on dark panels. Eczar and Mukta both include Devanagari, so a Hindi edition can follow without a new type system. The descriptor becomes Realty, the usual term in Indian property branding.

Homepage and neighbourhood guide

Marine Drive opens the site; the search asks for a city, locality, project or PIN code. City cards cover Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, Pune, Hyderabad and Goa. The Bandra West guide gives average price per square foot, 2 BHK rent, transactions, time to BKC and Bandra station, with listings in BHK and carpet area and a RERA-registered new launch.

Compliance, accessibility and trust

  • Privacy policy under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, naming Harlow as Data Fiduciary, with a Grievance Officer and the Data Protection Board.
  • Equal treatment statement: no instructions excluding buyers or tenants by religion, caste, community, food preference, gender, marital status or nationality.
  • Footer with a demo CIN and a reminder to verify RERA registration on the state RERA website.
  • Passes automated WCAG 2.2 AA checks on every page at 360, 390, 768 and 1440 px: no contrast failures, no unreachable controls, no horizontal scrolling.
  • A language switcher built from hreflang sits in the header on desktop and in the footer on phones.

One system, twelve markets

Every visible string lives in one file per market, and every colour and typeface in one theme file. This edition needed no new templates or components: a strings file, a theme, regional photography and local legal content made it a different brand experience. For a property group with international plans, a new market becomes a content project rather than a rebuild.

Deliverables

  • Market profile: language, formats, legal and seasonality
  • Full localised copy across 9 templates, header, footer and forms
  • Brand adaptation: palette, type pairing and logo descriptor
  • 21 regional photographs (Pexels, credited in credits.json)
  • Local legal content
  • Accessibility pass (WCAG 2.2 AA, automated) and QA at four screen widths
  • Portfolio media: stills, full-page captures, scroll video, OG image, brand board
