Tarkib UAE: electronics website design for a modular laptop brand

Tarkib UAE is the localised edition of our self-initiated concept project: a fictional brand selling modular laptops you can open, repair and upgrade. The edition is written in English, as the UAE market is, and speaks its language: AED prices including 5% VAT, free delivery across the UAE, Arabic/English keyboards, courier pickup for trade-ins and instalment payments. It follows UAE consumer-protection and e-waste rules. The brand, products and prices are fictional.

Project facts

  • Client: Tarkib Devices FZ-LLC (fictional, concept project)
  • Sector: Consumer electronics: modular, repairable laptops
  • Markets: Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the other emirates, with delivery across the UAE
  • Services: Market localisation · Copywriting · Brand adaptation · Consumer electronics e-commerce design · Accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA) · SEO foundations
  • Templates: 13 page templates shared with every Tarkib edition
  • Stack: Next.js (static export), React and Tailwind CSS; one region pack (copy, data, alt text) and one theme per market

The brief

Premium, practical and repair-first

UAE buyers compare models and parts in AED, expect delivery across the emirates and want to know what fits their machine before they buy. The edition keeps the configurator, filters and repair guides, and adds Arabic/English keyboard options, VAT-inclusive prices and a trade-in flow with free courier pickup. The voice is confident and plain; imagery stays product-led.

Brand adaptation

The same Tarkib, with a local accent

Night teal carries the interface and champagne gold adds warmth to italics, with a lighter gold on dark panels. Sora brings a technical display voice; Manrope keeps the interface crisp. Corners stay tight for a precise feel, and the wordmark keeps Tarkib. Arabic typefaces are not yet chosen for a future ar-AE edition.

Homepage, configurator and marketplace

The home page leads with the promise, one screwdriver, then moves from model families to parts, repair and trade-in. A scroll-driven exploded view separates an original line drawing of the laptop into display, keyboard, memory, mainboard, battery and port cards, each labelled and linked to the shop. The configurator asks for a DIY Edition or a pre-built laptop, then processor, memory, storage and ports, with Arabic / English (ISO) or US English (ANSI) keyboard options and a running AED total that includes 5% VAT.

Compliance, accessibility and trust

  • Privacy policy and returns under UAE consumer-protection rules; prices include 5% VAT.
  • Trade-in and recycling note: working devices are refurbished and resold, and batteries, metals and plastics go to licensed e-waste recyclers.
  • Footer with demo trade licence details for Tarkib Devices FZ-LLC (fictional, concept project); instalment figures are illustrative only, not an offer of credit.
  • Passes automated WCAG 2.2 AA checks on every page at 360, 390, 768 and 1440 px: no contrast failures, no unreachable controls, no horizontal scrolling.
  • A language switcher built from hreflang sits in the header on desktop and in the footer on phones.

One system, twelve markets

Every visible string lives in one region pack per market (copy, data and alt text), and every colour and typeface in one theme file. This edition needed no new templates or components: a region pack, a theme, local data and legal content made it a different brand experience. For a hardware brand with international plans, a new market becomes a content project rather than a rebuild.

Deliverables

  • Market profile: language, formats, legal and seasonality
  • Full localised copy across 13 templates, header, footer and forms
  • Brand adaptation: palette, type pairing and logo descriptor
  • 0 regional photographs (Pexels, credited in credits.json)
  • Local legal content
  • Accessibility pass (WCAG 2.2 AA, automated) and QA at four screen widths
  • Portfolio media: stills, full-page captures, scroll video, OG image, brand board
